Hey everyone,
You might have heard about the recent changes over on Discord – specifically, the new requirement for everyone to verify their identity with very personal data and ID, just to keep things running. For me, that crosses a line.
I built the Candy Land Discord to be a safe, cozy, and private corner for us to connect over art and illustration. Asking all of you – or even just myself as the server owner – to hand over that kind of personal information to a large platform feels wrong. It’s intrusive, and I refuse to put my community or myself through that.
So, we’re moving.
I’ve found a new home for us on a platform called Stoat. It’s European made/based, open source, by a community of passionate people, privacy-focused, and built with exactly this kind of community in mind. No ID checks, no data selling – just a space for us to be creative together.
What happens next?
- The Discord server will be closing down in the next few days.
- I’ve set up a brand new server on Stoat, and the invite link is below.
- The channels will feel familiar – we’ll have the same #general-chat, #welcome-and-rules, #whats-new, and all the cozy spaces you love.

With love,
Neli 💕
